New Falken CT60 – Engineered Exclusively for Modern SUVs

As Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) continue to surge on the roads, Stamford Tyres (M) Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Falken tyres in Malaysia, brought in the Falken CT60, a tyre that is designed to meet the demands of today’s SUVs.

“According to the Malaysia Automotive Association, SUV sales reached 210,162 vehicles in 2023, comprising roughly 80 per cent of the total SUV and 4×4 sales (270,065 vehicles). Additionally, we observed a growing trend of compact SUVs in the market. We believe this is the opportune moment to introduce the new Falken CT60 series, which is tailored specifically for SUVs,” said Frankie Kong, Head of Sales for SUV and 4×4, Stamford Tyres Malaysia.
He elaborated on the Falken CT60 features, noting its incorporation of 4D Nano Technology, which introduced innovative compound enhancements utilising biomass materials. This advancement is said to help improve tread flexibility and adhesion while simultaneously reducing heat generation from polymers. Paired with the silica-enriched compound, this technology aids the tyre’s wear and wet performance. The tyre’s asymmetric tread pattern, featuring polygonal-shaped inside grooves to increase wet traction, is complemented by a high-rigidity outside shoulder rib to deliver the necessary handling and stability for SUVs.

“In addition,” he continued, “the four wide circumferential grooves effectively resist hydroplaning by swiftly evacuating water through the tread pattern, ensuring secure contact with the road even in heavy rain. Furthermore, this new tyre exhibits a shorter braking distance compared to leading competitors.”
Kong proudly emphasised the benefits of enhanced fuel efficiency and extended tread life. “The 3D Canyon Sipes interlock the shoulder blocks to combat wear commonly associated with SUVs due to their higher centre of gravity. Additionally, driving comfort is enhanced, thanks to the tyre’s round profile, enabling the entire sidewall to flex and effectively absorb road shocks.”

Typically, he explained, tyres with high grip tended to offer lower mileages. However, thanks to Falken and its proprietary 4D Nano Technology that was used in Falken tyres, the company successfully developed tyres that provided high wet grip and longer mileages.

It’s also important to note that the Falken CT60, he said, came equipped with a rim protector that was designed to prevent damage and scratches when parking or navigating high curbs.

“Falken previously offered the FK510 tyre, which was succeeded by the FK520 that was designed for SUVs. However, the FK520 sizes primarily cater to larger vehicles, leaving out the compact SUVs. With the introduction of the latest Falken CT60 series, available in diameters ranging from 16 inches to 20 inches, the company not only meets the demand for common sizes but also addresses the increasing need for compact SUVs. The speed rating for the new tyre ranges from H (210km/h) to V (240km/h).”

“Priced between RM400 and RM1,100, the CT60 is suitable for a wide range of SUVs including those from Subaru, Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Proton, Perodua, BMW, Mercedes and more.”

Kong expressed his confidence in the new product, stating ‘the CT60 is backed by a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects that is effective from the installation date. This reflects our assurance in the quality of the new tyre’.

Regarding sales targets, he disclosed that the company was aiming for double-digit growth.
