On September 17 Stamford Tyres Malaysia played host to a number of VIPs from Sumitomo Rubber Industries and Sumitomo Rubber Asia (Tyre) Pte Ltd. The VIP guests were to be formally welcomed at the Kingdom Palace, Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya – the perfect venue for the glittering occasion of the Stamford Tyres Falken Dealers Dinner Party that Sunday evening.
The VIP guests from Sumitomo Rubber Industries and LTD from Japan were the President and CEO Mr. Ikuji Ikeda & Director and Senior Executive Officer Mr. Satoru Yamamoto while the guests from Singapore's Sumitomo Rubber Asia (Tyre) Ptd Ltd were Mr. Satoru Ushida (Managing Director), Mr. Wu Xiaoning (Sales & Marketing Manager) and also Mr. Lee Kok Chiang (Sales & Marketing Executive).
Upon their arrival the guests were driven to the venue for the dinner that is the Kingdom Palace where they were formally welcomed by Stamford Tyres Corporation Limited President Mr.Wee Kok Wah and Mrs. Dawn Wee who is also the Executive Director, as well as Stamford Tyres Malaysia Executive Vice President & CEO Mr. Cham Soon Kian and Datin Anne Leong (Director of Stamford Tyres Malaysia).
Once the guests were settled in the night's proceedings commenced with firstly the opening speech by Mr. Cham Soon Kian, followed by speeches from Sumitomo Rubber Industries' Yamamoto-San. Dinner followed as the guests were entertained by performance from Alfred Ho which preceded a special 47th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Wee which saw a cake cutting ceremony as well.
The night's itinerary continued with live band performance from Hikaru, which entertained the dinner guests all through most of the evening's occasion. The large number of guests also included authorized Falken dealers from PCR and also TBR; the Falken dealers were evidently enjoying themselves, as were the rest of the dinner guests as the traditional Chinese gesture of celebration – Yam Sheng as were the clink of glasses were heard throughout the night.
Amidst the relaxed ambience and casual atmosphere, there were also numerous sideshows namely a brief slide show depicting similar events held by Stamford Tyres over the years. The slide show was then followed by a fun-filled karaoke session which received quite a response from the guests.
The next day the guests were taken on a number of visits to Falken dealers and Stamford Tyres Malaysia Office which included visits to Stamford Tyres Malaysia shops namely Kam Hua Trading located in Shah Alam and Speedline in Damansara. After the visit the guests attended a meeting with STF Management team to discuss STF Malaysia sales results and growth, the market situation, strategies and other relevant matters, after which a tour of STM warehouse was organized followed by a Musang King Durian session. Lastly an SRAT dinner arrangement was held for Ikeda-san.
Immediately after dinner Ikeda-san was driven to KLIA where he boarded a direct flight to Tokyo.
