Stamford Tyres Malaysia, the sole distributor of Falken tyres in Malaysia, has widened its range of high-performance tyres with the addition of the Falken Ziex ZE310R Ecorun, or for short, the ZE310R.
“We called this new ZE310R, a “baby” version of FK510, which implies where it is derived from. Designed for drivers of premium vehicles that are looking for excellent grip and outstanding performance, the Azenis FK510 is Falken’s flagship Ultra-high performance (UHP) tyre catering for the premium market segment. The creation of the ZE310R is to satisfy the increasing need of performance-oriented and price-sensitive consumers due to the impact of Covid-19,” said Tyre Specialist Moo Chee Fong.
Leverage on FK510 technologies
Targeted at the middle and upper-middle market segment, Moo pointed out that the ZE310R leverages on FK510’s technologies. “These include 4D Nano design technology that enabled the Sumitomo Rubber’s engineers to develop a softer rubber compound for the ZE310R that is suitable for both the Malaysian weather and the road conditions. In addition, with the new multi-functionality SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber), there is an increase of silica distribution and the bonding points between silica and the polymer, as well as a restraint on unnecessary heat generation of the tyre, which provides a strong grip on wet and dry roads, better traction and mileage. The Falken’s proprietary Tension Control Technology, on the other hand, contributes to a more circular profile for improved sidewall flexibility that offers good handling response, especially under sudden load shifts and more balanced overall driving performance.”
The new ZE310R, Moo continued, features an asymmetric pattern with optimised block rigidity distribution. Excellent levels of directional handling stability, enhanced all-round grip and the added benefit of even wear are achieved, thanks to the Adaptive Constant Pressure (ACP) technology, an intelligently designed tread pattern which adapts to all situations in order to maximise surface area.
It’s also worth mentioning that the new tyre offers two different groove designs. A 3-groove design for 195 mm width tyre sizes downwards to maximise profile stiffness and increase tyre footprint, while the 4-groove design for 205 mm width tyres and upwards to increase water evacuation and enhance straight-line wet performance.
“Noise level has been greatly improved with the adoption of the new pattern with a larger number of blocks. This disperses shocks from the road to suppress and avoid vibration.”
In short, consumers will benefit from its excellent traction and grip on wet and dry roads, enhanced resistance against aquaplaning, shorter braking distances, improved ride comfort, good handling and longer wear life, Moo noted.
Great Performance-Price Ratio
Moo revealed that most of the drivers of cars in Malaysia are very practical when it comes to their car tyres. Comfort, quietness, good grip and value for money, he noted, are the four main factors that influence the buying decision. All these factors, he explained can be found in the new ZE310R, which he believes will attract market attention.
“We have just started selling the product this April, but the response has been very encouraging. The ZE310R is not going to replace FK510, but will complement our high-performance offerings to cater for the aforementioned middle and upper-middle market segment. FK510 covers bigger sizes, while the ZE310R sizes are smaller. Initially, the new tyre size chart starts at 15” to 18” inches, with H, V and W speed ratings, in the 35 to 65series, with the aim to expand the size range in the near future.”
The ZE310R tyre’s European version- the Ziex ZE310 has won numerous high ratings from third party independent tests, he noted.
The Auto Bild 15” summer tyre test and the Tyre Reviews Ultimate summer tyre test 16” have demonstrated that the ZE310R performs particularly well when it comes to safety-related criteria, with excellent traction and grip on wet and dry roads. The tyre, which is popular with both performance-oriented drivers and those who don’t want to sacrifice driving comfort, is now available in 63 sizes from 15 – 18 inches in the 40 – 70 series, and is approved for the speed classes H/V/W (210 – 270 km/h).
